Again, as far as ratings go, its all about the numbers (and statistics).
I also really like that the system now takes into account every player in the APA rather than just local numbers. This makes "sandbagging" pointless, it hurts your team more than it helps the player. In the past where you could look around your rating level (5 for me) and I could see who is doing well, who may go up and who may go down and if I was so inclined I could use that to maybe move myself down with a couple key losess. Now that its a national database, I have no idea how the other fives in the U.S. are doing that I'm being compared to.
And even with all this you still see players trying to play the numbers game, losing on purpose (you can tell with some players) or adding innings. You always see these people who have played "terrible" all sesson than when they get to playoffs or to cities they are a different player.
Okay I'm going to cut this short before I get back into the numbers and how we really do need to keep track of ball in hands.
